Abstract

The article presents a comprehensive study of contemporary trends in the development of forensic activities under conditions of digitalization and identifies the specific features of applying digital technologies to meet the needs of authorized law enforcement units. It is established that the rapid advancement of information and communication technologies, the growing use of electronic evidence, the increasing volume of digital information, and the growing complexity of unlawful activities necessitate the transformation of traditional approaches to forensic support of law enforcement activities. The study analyzes scientific approaches to understanding the essence and significance of forensic activities within the system of law enforcement agencies. It is substantiated that, under contemporary conditions, forensic examination performs not only the function of evidence examination but is also becoming an increasingly important instrument of information and analytical support for the detection, disclosure, and investigation of criminal offenses. The regulatory and legal framework governing the use of digital technologies in forensic activities is examined, including legislation on forensic examination, criminal procedure law, regulations concerning electronic document management, electronic trust services, and cybersecurity. The article systematizes modern digital technologies used in the activities of forensic institutions and law enforcement agencies, including digital evidence analysis technologies, biometric identification systems, digital reconstruction tools, Big Data analytics, artificial intelligence technologies, and integrated information and analytical systems. Their functional capabilities and significance for enhancing the effectiveness of forensic support for law enforcement activities are determined. Particular attention is paid to the application of artificial intelligence technologies and automated analytical systems, which create new opportunities for processing large volumes of information and supporting decision-making in the course of forensic examinations. Based on a generalization of contemporary scientific approaches, the strategic directions for the development of forensic support for law enforcement activities under conditions of digitalization are identified. These directions are associated with the integration of information resources, the development of digital forensics, the improvement of mechanisms for handling digital evidence, the strengthening of cybersecurity measures, and the implementation of innovative digital solutions. It is demonstrated that the further development of forensic activities should be based on a combination of modern technological capabilities, effective legal regulation, and interagency information interaction, which will contribute to increasing the effectiveness of law enforcement activities in a digital society.
