INTERNATIONAL LEGAL ASPECTS OF UKRAINE’S INTEGRATION INTO THE EUROPEAN UNION

Abstract

The article focuses on the international legal aspects of Ukraine’s integration into the European Union, in particular, harmonization of legislation, reforms and adaptation to European standards. This topic is important in the context of current challenges and Ukraine’s progress in European integration processes. The purpose of the study is to analyze the process of Ukraine’s integration into the EU with a focus on legal, economic and sectoral reforms, as well as improving the protection of human rights and freedoms. The study uses general scientific methods: comparative analysis, system analysis, analysis of regulatory documents and the method of legal interpretation to study the peculiarities of European integration. The author proves that Ukraine’s integration into the EU is a complex and dynamic process which includes harmonization of national legislation with EU legal norms and institutional reforms. It is shown that agreements with the EU play a significant role in this process, contributing to changes in the political, economic and social spheres. Ukraine’s candidate status in 2022 is recognized as an important step in strengthening cooperation. It is revealed that the integration process faces challenges, including the need to fight corruption, reform public administration and reduce dependence on energy imports. The effectiveness of reforms largely depends on the EU’s support and Ukraine’s political will. The author substantiates that Ukraine’s integration into the EU is a complex process that includes harmonization of legislation, implementation of institutional reforms, and adaptation to European norms. Obtaining the status of an EU candidate in 2022 confirms Ukraine’s progress in implementing reforms. At the same time, the country faces significant challenges, including ensuring human rights, implementing economic reforms, fighting corruption, and reforming public administration. Successful integration will facilitate structural changes and strengthen political and economic relations with the EU.
