Abstract

This article investigates the transformation of the labor market in the context of digitalization, emphasizing the increasing appeal of IT professions among young people. Utilizing the educational guide IT Professions: A Guide for Beginners (2025), the author systematizes key areas of professional development within the IT sector, identifies critical digital and soft skills, and examines challenges faced by newcomers entering the industry. The study highlights the interconnection between effective career guidance, contemporary educational strategies, and the demands of the digital economy. It analyzes global labor market trends, including the rising demand for specialists in data processing, cybersecurity, cloud technologies, and artificial intelligence, as supported by reports from the World Economic Forum and LinkedIn. The author stresses the importance of adaptive educational approaches that accommodate rapid technological advancements and offers practical recommendations for improving career orientation programs. The research identifies a disconnect between the expectations of young professionals and employers’ actual requirements, proposing solutions such as integrating structured guides into curricula, encouraging portfolio development, promoting mentorship programs, and expanding non-formal education. The article underscores the significance of career navigation in preparing youth for the digital economy, presenting a comprehensive model for professional self-determination that can serve as a foundation for educational and governmental initiatives.
