Abstract

Global social dynamics have led to tangible transformations in the socio-demographic characteristics of the modern consumer of tourism services. The youth generation is positioned as a key demographic category that will shape the main trends in tourism demand in the coming decades. At the same time, the issue of regenerating local tourism as a factor of practical managerial support for the development of regional tourism business requires special attention. Purpose. The purpose of the article is to analyze the specifics of youth tourism in the context of a factor in the development of the tourism business in small communities. Results. The study provides a detailed definition of key concepts of the youth tourism sector. The main functions of the tourism industry under study are analyzed, including strengthening regional economic potential and developing destinations; preserving and increasing historical and cultural heritage; and actualizing in young people a sense of intercultural competence and tolerance for the customs of different nationalities. The key trends of youth tourism and the characteristic features of its recipients are identified. The main needs of young people in tourism are formulated, in particular, the adaptability of the offer to flexible demand; the need to involve online marketing and digital technologies of the tourist service to constantly support feedback with the tourist audience (mobile applications, social networks, promotions, SMS mailings, etc.). The need for marketing data analytics, personalization of experience and development of e-marketing is substantiated. The international experience of developing tourism business in small communities through youth tourism is studied. Significant trends and priority organizations for the development of youth tourism in the European community are identified. Conclusions.
