CULTURAL ASPECTS OF MANAGING MODERN LIBRARIES

Abstract

In today’s world of digitalization and globalization, the activities of libraries are becoming increasingly complex, requiring innovative management approaches. Of particular importance are university libraries, which not only provide access to knowledge but also create interactive cultural and educational spaces for students and teachers. The purpose of this study is to develop effective approaches to the management of university libraries, taking into account cultural aspects that contribute to the preservation of traditions, adaptation to changes, and satisfaction of users’ needs. Modern libraries play a key role in preserving cultural heritage and fostering intercultural dialogue, making them significant centers of societal interaction. University libraries, in particular, fulfill a dual mission of providing access to knowledge and supporting educational processes while integrating various social groups. Managing such institutions requires considering cultural aspects, including preserving historical traditions, adapting to digital technologies, and ensuring inclusivity. This article examines the historical development of libraries, showcasing their transformation from repositories of knowledge to centers of cultural interaction. It analyzes the works of leading researchers who emphasize the use of digital tools, inclusive programs, and international cooperation. Special attention is given to the library of Mukachevo State University as a successful example of integrating cultural approaches into modern management. The study’s findings include the development of management approaches tailored to university libraries. These approaches focus on creating interactive cultural-educational programs, digital platforms, and inclusive spaces. Projects implemented by the Mukachevo State University Library demonstrate the effectiveness of such strategies in promoting intercultural connections and preserving cultural heritage. The article concludes that managing university libraries requires balancing tradition and innovation. The use of cultural tools enables libraries to remain relevant in a rapidly changing world, meet user needs, and contribute to societal development.
